In 2015, Huntingdonshire District Council, together with South Cambridgeshire District Council and Cambridge City Council saw the opportunity to create a new ICT Shared Service.  In addition to realising significant cost savings, this would provide a high quality, cost-effective service, whilst also providing service innovation.  Enabling implementation of the Councils’ strategy of moving to a ‘Digital First’ service provision was another top priority.
Mitra’s COO, Derek Bell, was brought on board to provide his experience in designing and building UK public sector shared services, which enabled HDC and their partners to harness the best of both public sector and private sector working practices.  During this 12 month assignment, Derek led the production of the business case, creation of the service catalogue, organisational structure design and the transition into the new shared service.
Derek also helped the newly created 3C ICT Shared Service to embrace the Agile delivery methodology, thus enabling the faster delivery of new capabilities.
